World Juniors 2017 - We Need You!

We're gearing up for a huge year hosting the World Junior Squash Championships in Tauranga 19-29 July (along with Devoy and Te Puke).   To help ensure the Event’s success, we have over 200 Volunteers Roles available to help us showcase squash, as well as Tauranga and New Zealand, to the world.  Come and join us and be part of the action.

The volunteering roles can also be found on the WSF website at Click here
We're proud to be part of the strong squash community we have in the Bay and are sure many would love to be involved.  These roles are not limited to squashies so if you know anyone that may be interested, please feel free to forward to them.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch with Marcus Niles (admin@squashbop.co.nz)

Entertainment Book - Fundraising!

The Mount Squash Club is working with the Waikato/BOP Entertainment Book this year as a fundraiser for the club and some maintenance projects we are working on (including a refit to the kitchen).

The Entertainment book is a local restaurant and activity guide which provides hundreds of up to 50% off and 2 for 1 deals from restaurants, cafes, attractions, activities, retailers and hotel accommodation.  The book provides exclusive offers and is valid through to 1 June 2018.  It is also available in a digital format.

The squash club will receive 20% from every book sold so it is a great way to support our club, while getting great deals yourself!

Please keep an eye out for the posters on how to sign up early.  Books are $65.

Ladies Sunday Squash

Sunday Ladies Squash is back!  This is a great chance for those wanting to give it go before joining, finding some like minded ladies to get on court.  Drills and court time for those getting back into it and some coaching tips for those just getting started.  Some great coaches lined up to help us each week.

We started last week with a great bunch of ladies, and are keen to expand our group to pass it on.

  • 4.30pm - 6.00pm
  • Open to all, non-members $2
  • Suitable for beginners right through to graded.
  • Runs for the next 6 weeks at the Mt Squash Club.

Coaching Course

We will be looking to run a 3 week coaching clinic in mid to late March, with a professional coach.  This is the perfect start for the new year if you are a new member, or looking for some good habits leading into the competitive season.

Watch this space for more details.  With enough interest we will look to have both a ladies and mens sessions.

IMPORTANT: Membership Fees go up as of 1 March 2017

As agreed at the AGM in October, there has been a small increase to the memberships fees which will take effect as of 1st March 2017.

  • Senior Members $320
  • Couples $580
  • Juniors <13 $60
  • Juniors <19 $110
  • Families retain their 10% discount off the base fees
  • Country $180 (must reside outside of BOP and belong to another club)
  • Monthly $40
  • Corporate $400 + $50 per person

The increase was approved with recognition that with 20% increase in membership in the last 12 months we need to start planning for 4th court as well as covering the increased fees for afiliation to Squash BOP.

Some changes will also be made to court reservations recognising increased court reservations for junior usage (coaching, club night, AIMS, Future Champions).  The shift balance will hopefully provide better support for full members (major stakeholders) by changing rules for peak times.

  • Country, corporate members and monthly would not be permitted to play at peak times (4.30 – 7.30pm weekdays, yellowed per court booking system unless the courts were not booked).
  • Junior members would only be permitted to play with an adult at peak times (eg leagues)

Notices will be up at the club with more details.

Interclub - Starts April!

Interclub starts again this year in April, Ladies on Mondays, Men Tuesdays and Masters (>35) on Wednesdays.

This is a 10 week competition for teams of 4, against other BOP clubs, where each player must be on the Squash NZ Grading list (all full members are eligible).  If you are interested in playing, there is a list up at the club outside Court 2 - please add your name so we can start working out teams.

Cost is $150/team for the 10 weeks.

HAPPY SQUASHING
